When people ask me where my favorite places to photograph weddings are, I can’t help but think about my old stomping grounds.. because New England truly has it all! Whether you’re dreaming of mountain views, sparkling lakes, historic cities, or oceanfront sunsets, there’s a perfect backdrop for every love story.
As a New England wedding photographer, I’ve fallen in love with the incredible variety this region offers. Every destination has its own personality, and each wedding feels completely unique because of it. If you’re searching for the best wedding locations in New England, these are my personal top five favorites!
1. White Mountains, New Hampshire
If you’ve ever dreamed of exchanging vows with panoramic mountain views behind you, the White Mountains are pure magic. The dramatic landscapes, cozy mountain lodges, and endless scenic overlooks make this one of my absolute favorite places to photograph weddings. Every season brings something special, from vibrant fall foliage to snowy winter celebrations and lush summer mountaintops.
The White Mountains are perfect for adventurous couples who love the outdoors but still want an elegant wedding experience. Some of my favorite moments happen during sunset portraits, when the mountains are glowing and everything feels peaceful. If you’re planning a White Mountains wedding, you truly can’t go wrong!
2. Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire
Lake Winnipesaukee has a timeless charm that’s hard to describe until you’ve experienced it. There’s something so romantic about celebrating beside the water, with sailboats drifting in the distance and the sun setting over the lake. Whether you’re getting married at a waterfront estate, a lakeside inn, or hosting a full wedding weekend with family and friends, this area always delivers beautiful scenery.
Golden hour here is one of my favorites in all of New England. The soft reflections on the water create some of the dreamiest portraits imaginable. For couples looking for a relaxed yet elegant lakeside wedding, Lake Winnipesaukee is an incredible choice.
3. Cape Cod, Massachusetts
Cape Cod weddings NEVER go out of style! From charming beach towns and iconic lighthouses to sandy beaches and beautiful waterfront venues, every corner of the Cape offers something special. There’s a relaxed coastal energy here that instantly makes everyone feel like they’re on vacation.
One of my favorite things about photographing Cape Cod weddings is how effortlessly beautiful everything feels. The ocean breeze, glowing sunsets, and classic New England architecture create timeless images that never feel trendy. If you’ve always imagined saying “I do” by the ocean, Cape Cod is one of the best wedding destinations in New England.
4. Newport, Rhode Island
If elegance and coastal luxury had a home, it would be Newport. Between the famous Gilded Age mansions, waterfront venues, sailboats, and stunning cliffside views, Newport feels like something straight out of a movie. Every wedding here has an elevated, timeless feel while still embracing the beauty of the New England coastline.
As a photographer, I love the endless variety. One moment we’re taking portraits on the Cliff Walk, and the next we’re surrounded by historic architecture or overlooking Narragansett Bay. For couples dreaming of a sophisticated waterfront wedding with unforgettable scenery, Newport is hard to beat.
5. Boston, Massachusetts
Boston brings together history, elegance, and city energy in the best possible way. From historic brownstones and cobblestone streets to rooftop venues overlooking the skyline and beautiful waterfront locations, Boston offers endless opportunities for stunning wedding photography.
One of my favorite things about Boston weddings is how every neighborhood has its own personality. Whether we’re exploring Beacon Hill, strolling through the Public Garden, or celebrating at one of the city’s elegant hotels, every wedding feels unique. For couples who love the excitement of a city while still appreciating classic New England charm, Boston is an amazing place to begin your next chapter.
Why I Love Photographing Weddings Across New England
One of the biggest reasons I love being a New England wedding photographer is the incredible diversity of locations. Within just a few hours, you can experience mountain peaks, crystal-clear lakes, sandy beaches, historic seaside towns, and vibrant city streets.
Every couple has a different vision for their wedding day, and New England offers something for everyone. Whether you’re planning an intimate mountain elopement, a waterfront celebration, or an elegant ballroom reception, there’s a location here that fits your story perfectly.
More than anything, I love documenting genuine moments in places that feel meaningful to my couples. Beautiful scenery is just the backdrop, your connection is what makes the photos uniquely you!
