Okay, real talk: I’m a photographer but put me in front of the camera, and I am the most awkward human being alive! Seriously, I have witnesses (lol!). Suddenly, I forget what to do with my hands, my face, and my feet—cue the deer-in-headlights look. If you’ve ever felt that way before a photo session, you’re not alone! Normally, I’m the one behind the lens, helping clients feel confident, relaxed, and totally themselves. It was such a fun challenge to be on the other side during our maternity session at Commons Ford Ranch in Austin, Texas.
Let me just say: the nerves faded fast, thanks to the magic of golden hour, a helpful photographer, and the sweetest moments shared with my husband. A HUGE shoutout to Erica for capturing us so beautifully and bringing this vision to life with such care and creativity! This maternity shoot was a good reminder that it’s completely normal to feel a little awkward or unsure in front of the camera, even for us photographers. But that’s where the right energy, guidance, and connection comes in. A great photographer will help you shake off the nerves, let your personality shine, and turn those “what do I do with my hands??” moments into pure gold.
So if you’re prepping for your own photo session and feeling nervous, don’t worry. The magic is in the real moments, and you are already more photogenic than you think. Keep scrolling to see some of our favorite golden hour maternity photos from Commons Ford Ranch!
