McKinney Falls State Park Engagement Session: A Perfect Date Night
I can honestly say this engagement session at McKinney Falls State Park was an absolute dream to photograph! When Tierney first reached out to me about her vision for the shoot, I was SO excited. She had such a clear idea of what she wanted, and I knew from the moment we started talking that this session would be something really special. Tierney and Danny had a beautiful, relaxed, and intimate vision for their photos, and I couldn’t wait to help bring it to life!
Tierney’s attention to detail was evident right from the start. She curated a super adorable picnic setup that set the perfect vibe for their session. The little touches—blanket, flowers, film camera, and even a bottle of wine—helped create such a cozy atmosphere, and I’m not the only one who noticed! They got so many compliments on how cute their setup looked, and I was more than happy to capture those moments.
While we initially had our hearts set on a golden hour shoot, the weather had other plans. The day turned out cloudy, but you know what? It was just as good! The soft, diffused light gave the entire session a dreamy, ethereal feel. No harsh shadows, just a creamy, even tone throughout the photos. Honestly, the overcast skies worked in our favor and made for some stunning shots. Sometimes, you don’t need the perfect weather; you just need the right people, and these two were absolutely perfect.
Cozy Picnic Moments
We began the session with Tierney and Danny snuggled up on the blanket, simply enjoying each other’s company. They were cracking jokes, sharing quiet moments, and taking some photos with their film camera (how cool is that?). The natural, easygoing energy between them made it feel like we were just hanging out and catching up, not necessarily working on a photo session. That’s exactly what I strive for with my couples—genuine moments, laughter, and real love shining through every shot.
Exploring the Park
After the picnic, we explored McKinney Falls State Park, wandering across rocky cliffs and soaking in the natural beauty surrounding us. McKinney Falls is one of my favorite places to shoot at because it offers so many different landscapes and textures. From the waterfalls to the unique rocky terrain, there’s a lot of variety to work with, and it made for some incredible backdrops. And did I mention how brave Tierney is? She did all of this IN HEELS without even breaking a sweat – a true superhero!
The Connection Between Tierney & Danny
Tierney and Danny were truly such a sweet, easygoing couple. It felt like we had known each other for years! They were so comfortable together, and their love and chemistry were so apparent. It’s that kind of connection that really brings a photo session to life. When you’re able to be completely yourself with your partner, the photos become more than just pictures—they become fun memories. You could see the love in their eyes, the way they look at each other, and the way they fit together so naturally.
I always tell my clients that when you book a session with me, it’s not about just standing still and smiling for the camera. I help you loosen up by giving fun prompts that will create movement and natural interactions. These little moments—laughing, hugging, holding hands, or even just walking together—help create photos that feel authentic and capture the true essence of your relationship. My goal is to make sure you forget about the awkwardness of being in front of the camera and simply focus on enjoying your time with each other.

If you’re thinking of bringing your fur baby along for your engagement session, I highly recommend bringing a friend or family member to help. Not only will they be able to keep your dog entertained and out of the shot when needed, but you’ll also get some beautiful, distraction-free photos with your partner as well. It gives you the chance to have the best of both worlds—adorable pictures with your pet and some more intimate moments between you and your partner without distractions.
I am so grateful that I got to be a part of Tierney and Danny’s engagement session. It was an evening full of love, laughter, and memories. Their connection was so genuine, and the park provided the perfect setting for capturing these sweet moments!
